ShibuYahtzee — シブヤッツィー
A downloadable game
Roll the dice across Shibuya
ShibuYahtzee is the classic 13-round dice game, rebuilt for the Playdate's 1-bit screen as a love letter to Shibuya — where I lived for twenty years. Give the crank a spin and five pre-rendered 3D dice tumble over the scramble crossing; every score lands with a koto pluck, every Yahtzee with a taiko hit and a full-screen ヤッツィー!
The neighbourhood is the star. Between games you'll wander seven hand-drawn, dithered scenes: the torii over the skyline, the Nishihara Street shotengai gate (clock and all), the 109 building, Hachikō waiting by the station, the Center Gai arch, the Meiji-jingū forest path, and a Yamanote train rattling over the viaduct. Sakura petals drift over everything.
Features
- Crank to roll — or press Down, if you must
- Real 3D bitmapped dice — perspective-projected, dither-shaded, with tumbling roll animations
- Full Yahtzee rules — upper-section bonus, +100 extra-Yahtzee bonuses, and the official joker rules
- Scorecard with soul — live potential scores, 済 hanko stamps on scored categories, 留 tags on held dice
- Up to six players — name entry on the on-screen keyboard, with a top-8 high-score table
- Autosave everywhere — quit any time; the title screen offers CONTINUE right where you left off
- A generated soundtrack — Karplus-Strong koto plucks on the hirajoshi scale, taiko drums, a temple gong, and proper dice clatter
